With 20 years as a manager and consultant in the health care industry, I have a Master’s Degree in Conflict
Resolution. My specialization is respect in communication and human interaction. I have a BS in Philosophy,
emphasizing human rights and ethics. My experience includes having managed the human relations integration
side of company mergers, corporate training, workplace mediation, and intense collective bargaining
negotiations (as CEO of a 1600 doctor independent physician association). Relevant experience also includes
leading men’s anger and communication groups in the US and Russia. In addition to a certificate in disability
management (CPDM) I have worked with diverse populations – from corporate level leaders and physicians to
inner-city Methadone patients. I have done race relations mediation and interact effectively with people of all
socio-economic levels; and I am comfortable in high-conflict, high-emotion environments. This background,
and a deep understanding of the effects of anger, trauma, and disrespect, bullying and change on productivity,
communication and staff morale inform my trainings.
Philosophy:
In mediation, the best possible outcome may be a practical result allowing agreement and the opportunity for the
parties to move on. If we inject explicit respect-based procedures into human relations, sales or mediation,
outcomes will be more fair and enduring, offering the possibility of continuing relationships after the conflict
resolution. In anger management, again, the focus is on respect and awareness. Awareness of self, triggers,
needs, and respectful communication.
Strengths:
My expertise is Respect in communication and conflict resolution. As an experienced business person and
manager, mediator and negotiator, travelerand teacher, I excel in bridge-building and facilitating respectful
communication and understanding. I am comfortable in high-conflict, high-emotion settings.
Background:
I grew up in the industrial, racially charged and riotous troubled times of the late 60s and early 70s. That
experience and later specialization with victims of trauma, violence and abuse taught me that respect is a
human need. Extensive work with men and women in business and outside of business has taught me the
importance of respect in communication. Respect is absolutely fundamental to healthy communication,
relationships, mediation and management. Without respect demonstrated in ways that can be experienced by
the "other," trust, communication, and conflict resolution are impossible.
My professional employment background includes small, medium, and several multi-billion dollar companies, in
both profit and non-profit environments and extensive Board governance experience. Most of my career has
been productively spent in the Health Care Industry. My higher education includes 10 colleges and universities
- studying wherever I have lived. I have travelled, studied and taught extensively, lived in a variety of types of
places here and abroad, raised children, and struggled to get ahead without compromising my integrity, all the
while attempting to be of service. What threads its way through my life's experience is bridge-building,
communication and conflict resolution. The questions now are: How can I help YOU to succeed? and What are
YOUR needs?
